FeDICT

Citizens and organizations can consult government information on numerous websites at the level of the federal government. FeDICT wanted to give users a single access point to all this information and facilitate cross-referencing between these sites.

Solution

FeDICT contracted Panoptic to develop a central search engine. Panoptic proposed to use Lucene, an open source search engine for this purpose. The search function consists of an automatic and dynamic tagging and indexing of content all government sites, and a search module that can be integrated as a service in every site.

Specific features include suggestion of spelling variations, keyword completion, automatic language recognition, thesaurus, keyword highlighting, URL-based search domain restrictions, scheduled crawling, push indexing, configuration of metadata, adaptive ranking and search audits and reports.
